Murugesh: nice thoughts. But I still go with my comment that our cricketing system and cricketers suck big time...and that they don\\\'t deserve to appear in ads (that\\\'s what me thinks).

India has the highest viewership for cricket...These matches steal away so much of valuable hours of people who watch match after match thinking that the cricketers will win!

Every time these cricketers say...\\\"We are improving...We are working hard at the nets...\\\". All I am saying to them is..\\\"If you cannot succeed after umpteen attempts...just move away. Give chance to someone else...\\\"!

I guess i would do myself some good if I stop hoping Indians to win ;)

Monk: I am just quoting him as example. Doesn\\\'t necessarily mean I am following him ardently. BTW...I was almost tempted to put you really in a fix..but then decided not to ;)

Anoop: What is the solution then?

Bharani, the Indian cricket team only shows the deficiencies that we as a people possess; frailty of the mind, complacency and a lack of killer instinct. They just get magnified ten-fold under the media's glare.

This was something that was on my mind for a long time... you brought that up... anyway my views are quite different from urs.

Any product should be bought for its merit and necessity... Boycotting/Buying a product just for the reason that someone endorses is not the exact solution to this.

It will neither do good for indian cricket or for market... at the same time, we should prevent ourself from using good products since whom we hate endorses it.

Example:
I feel Hutch does provides me a good service at low price... So, I shouldn't neglect just because Dravid is its icon.
I'm used to coconut oil. I can't go for Brylcream as Dhoni endorses it.

A batsman should hit according to the merit of the ball... not according to the bowler who is bowling him...

But exact solution might be, preventing them from distracted into the ads.

BTW, I still dont understand why Companies use cricket and movie stars... they can spent that money for logistics/research/quality improvement or they can reduce the price to increase their market share... MBAs should rethink about strategies...:)

and Indian cricketers are endorsing a LOT of product ranges too...humko problem ho jayega...Koi alternative plan hai kya?

When Gandhi boycotted the foreign goods/clothes..who was actually affected? The act did not mean that the boycotted clothes were of poor quality.

The trend of 'big endorsements, poor performances' has to stop.

The companies can get someone else to endorse the product. They don't stand to lose much. But cricketers will get the message.

My understanding of this post is that, you don't want to buy products endoresed by cricketers, as you find them accountable for poor performance.

By shunning a product who/what do you think is actually getting affected.

Do elaborate.
