Hi Bharani,

I have lived in Mumbai for the last 15 years and the kind of environment one gets here, I doubt we will get anywhere in India.

True that "vinamrata" or courtesy is required in a social setup. But isnt it just an outward representation? Is it important to be good in reality or just show that you are good?

Apropos the Reader's Digest survey, I seriously doubt the veracity of the survey. It was controversial and for good reason.

How many cities in the world will you see where a bomb blast occurs and more than the required number of people turn up to donate blood for the victims?

How many cities are there where there will be floods and people serve those caught in the middle of the roads biscuits and tea for free?

How many places will you see where if a female raises an alarm, you have 5 men coming to protect her?

Did the RD survey consider all this? I presume not.

To tell you the truth, in all my interactions, I have had pleasant experiences. Right from educated, smart cops (who never asked for a bribe) for my passport apps to the sabji-waala (who always treat my mom nicely along with other customers too) on the street to the labourers on construction sites (who addressed me as "neengal" and "nandri" for any help). They have been polite, courteous and generally easy to get along with.

I see nothing wrong with the culture of Mumbai. (Mind you I have lived in 4 different cities in India.) It is like life is today. Fast, furious and absolutely on the run. Each day. Every person.

Perhaps the RD people must live here for sometime to comment...

I know that this wasnt the focal pt of your post. Being a Mumbaikar, it didnt go down well with me. So just wanted to present the other side as well.

And yes, LRM is a wonderful movie and definately worth multiple watches :)

Have a great day...

LRM is a good movie with clean humor and continuous laughs.
Hindi must have been a little challenging for you, but you seem to have got the gist.
Watch PKSE also... the quality of humor is not as good as LRM but it's a sure entertainer.

Hi Sir...
How r u doing.. was quite busy.. but still in touch with reading ur new blog..

I saw LRM, and enjoyed... will watch Click soon.
Better dont miss MUNICH.. I missed watching that in Moscow.. but made sure to get a DVD..that is one of the best movies i've seen inrecent times. Before watching that read 'Operation Wrath of God' by in Wikipedia or other sources... Its based on 1972 Munich Olympic Massacre, and its retaliation by Israel. Its nominated for 5 Oscars. Really gripping movie. Eric bana and Speilberg have done their homework well..
