I want Self-Made man statue!

August 26, 06 by Bharani

For little over 2 years, I have been dreaming about owning a scaled-down model of Bobbie Carlyle’s “Self Made Man” statue. The Statue is a very inspirational one (you can see on the right hand side bar). It depicts a man carving out himself with a hammer and chisel from a rock. It symbolizes the power of man to carve out his own character, own future…and own life!

The price of the smallest statue is 750$. Quite costly. I have not reached the stage where I can afford 750$ for a statue….But I will own the statue someday…! If any of you happen to come across the sale of this statue online at attractive prices…well, do inform me…I will be indebted to you…

Cars is a very nice animation movie. No wonder it was #1 in U.S. Box office for many days. As with all Disney animation movies, there was a strong storyline in the movie. The movie has action, romance, inspiration, drama and loads of humour. The quality of animations is increasing with every movie…This is Disney’s 7th animation movie and one can easily notice the positive evolution in animation standards over the years. Some of the sequences were amazingly realistic and stunning. Cars is a complete entertainment and it is definitely worth watching…

Some interesting snippets about the movie:

– Cars ranks as the top grossing film of the “Cars Racing” genre
– Michael schumacher has given a voice over in the movie (for the Ferrari car that appears towards the end of the movie)!
– Unlike conventional animated cars, the eyes were placed on the windshield (as against the headlights).

Change Management:

August 25, 06 by Bharani

Yes! It’s time to “Manage Change”. Should do the following things over the next few days.

1. Update all my friends about my new domain and request them to update their blogroll.

2. Decide what to do with ““. Should I continue blogging at that space? Should I cease all activities and nicely archive it?. Since Blogsome does not provide any options to back up the posts & comments, I guess transferring the contents to the new domain is out of question.

3. Update the BlogRoll section in the new website. Provide links to all those people who were kind enough to blogroll me. That is the least I could do to repay them.

After 3 years of blogging (with webhostingmatrix and blogsome), I finally decided to buy my own domain name and web space. Today, I am the proud owner of the domain “” and loads of web space.

After doing research about many hosting options, I finally settled for Bluehost. Price, Customer support, Own Data centres, Customer Reviews and few other factors were considered. Ultimately their customer service and loads of positive customer reviews tilted the scale towards Bluehost.

I badly wanted the domain name “”. But the domain name was already booked. The only domains available with the same name were “” and “”. So, I went for my second best choice “way2top”.

Now, I have this sensation of purchasing a huge but empty house. I have to slowly change this house to a comfortable living place and provide a pleasant experience to visitors.

ISB Alumni Meet @ Chennai:

August 23, 06 by Bharani

Alumni meet@hyderabad happens only when I decide to go to chennai! I missed out on the meet couple of times. This time, I managed to attend the Alumni meet, but in chennai :)

Kaushik Gopal (my batch-mate) was a key organizer along with Prashanth (Class of 2003). ‘Pasha’, a trendy night club @ Hotel Raj Park was booked for the event. Around 40+ turned up for the event. 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 and 2006 – all the batches had representation, though the distribution was uneven with a strong representation from 2006 batch! Dean Rao and Prof. Chandrashekar flew from hyderabad to join us on the occasion. It was nice to meet the alums. I was glad that quite a few recognized my name immediately…Thanks to my blog!

Ramkey, the Quizzing pro, conducted a fun-filled quiz program. He made his presence felt yet again! As of me, I met Karthik Sankar, Karthik Ramachandran, Prithvi, Rajanikanth, Sanjeev Sujan, Kaushik Gopal, Vikram Raman (I meet him day-in and day-out in my apartment!), Krishna Tata, Supreeth Hari, Ramkey. I also met Bala Prabhu (The blogger from 2003). Few of the alums have already ventured into their own business. I collected the business cards of few entrepreneurs. In terms of Organization, Cognizant stole the show with more than 15 people from the firm.

The bill was on-the-house! I am waiting for Kaushik to share the photos with us…
